*Project description:*
The interactive installation Receptor explores the issue of incompleteness of knowledge and the process of perception. The installation consists of a neural network made of optical fibres, as an electrified perceptual system that constantly collects information about its surroundings. It interprets the data in real time and returns it back to the environment in a distorted form, in order to question the solidity of our notions. The project focuses on the perceptual processes that shape human experience and explores questions about sensing. The installation allows viewers to actively participate in the process of perception by interacting with electronic components and sensors. The system captures sound, touch and movement and transforms the individual stimuli into multi-channel audio and light. Interactivity allows viewers to intervene the layers of data and participate in the creation of the outputs. However, the final interpretations of the data are unpredictable, disrupting fixed ideas about our immediate environment.
*Interaktivní instalace Receptor zkoumá problematiku neúplnosti poznání a proces vnímání. Instalaci tvoří nervová síť z optických vláken, jakožto elektrifikovaný vnímající systém, který neustále sbírá informace o svém okolí. Data v reálném čase interpretuje a vrací zpět do prostředí ve zkreslené podobě, s cílem zpochybnit pevnost našich představ. Projekt se zaměřuje na percepční procesy, které utvářejí lidskou zkušenost a zkoumá otázky týkající se vnímání. Instalace umožňuje divákům aktivně se účastnit procesu percepce pomocí interakce s elektronickými komponenty a senzory. Systém zachycuje zvuk, dotek a pohyb a přetváří jednotlivé stimuly do podoby vícekanálového zvuku a světla. Interaktivita umožňuje divákům zasahovat do vrstev dat a podílet se tak na tvorbě výstupů. Výsledné interpretace dat jsou však nepředvídatelné, čímž narušují pevné představy o našem bezprostředním okolím.*
